Start ‘Em Sit ‘em Week 17 – 2012

December 28, 2012 Top Targets No Comments

Most leagues are over but if you are still playing, you have a tough decision week ahead so we thought a start ‘em sit ‘em might serve better than a top targets article.

Here is the basic game plan, start your studs if they are healthy and actually going to play.  If you have a horse on a team that has locked up home field (Atlanta Falcons), sorry about your luck.  He might have gotten you here but your ride is over.  For marginal players, here are the ground rules:  Avoid games that are going to be tough defensive smash ups, no one is going to help you win if the the game ends 9-6 (Arizona @ San Francisco).   If you are this far and still gambling with your line up, look for shoot outs that mean nothing (Saints vs. Panthers).  So, now that you have a plan let’s get specific…..

Start ‘Em

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos –Moreno keeps putting up numbers week in and week out even though I said he would fall apart.  The Broncos are still fighting for home field so they should be playing their starters most of the game and the Kansas City run defense really sucks.

Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins – The Skins are playing for the division against their arch nemesis the Dallas Cowboys. Washington can put up numbers, RGIII has been a special player all year and the Cowboys have a very suspect pass defense.

Pierre Garcon, WR, Washington Redskins- Garcon has been on my list a few times this season and I really like him this week.  All the things we stated about RGIII apply to Garcon as well and the topper, Garcon plays very well against the Cowboys.

Greg Olsen, TE, Carolina Panthers – The Panthers expected Olsen to put up big numbers for them and be a great safety net for the young Cam Newton, he has not disappointed.  This game will have loads of points so Olsen should find pay dirt at least once against the Saints terrible defense.

Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans Saints – The panthers have an decent rush defense but this game is going to be a shoot out and Sproles is as much a receiving threat as a rushing threat. Sproles will likely touch the ball 25 times this week, big money, no whammies.

Sit ‘Em

Michael Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons (and any other Falcon starter)– The Falcons are facing a very tough rush defense in the Tampa Bay Bucs, but it doesn’t matter, the Falcons have home field locked up already so there is no earthly reason that Turner should see the field.  This applies to all Falcons this week.

Josh Freeman, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I have been pumping up Josh Freeman all season and he has made me look very foolish recently…he will have a tough week in Atlanta, if he is what your championship is depending on, you are in big trouble.

Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams –Jackson has been a stud lately but this week he is in for rude awakening.  This week Jackson (if he get 10 yards) will join the elite few with 8 consecutive 1000 yard seasons, but he may not get much more than ten yards, the Seahawks have a TOUGH defense.  Sorry Steve,

Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns – Another guy I told you to pick up but now I am telling you to sit….He has a third String QB throwing to him against the Steelers in a game that is for nothing but pride in Hines field.  Definite sit!

Top Targets for Week 12 2012

November 21, 2012 Top Targets No Comments

It is a big week if you are in need of a running back!

Head Smackers

Ronnie Hillman, RB, Denver Broncos – With the loss of McGahee for the rest of the season, Hillman seems to be the most likely to get the lion’s share of the carries from here on out.  Ball will get some work as well and there may even be aMoreno sighting but that is unlikely.  The Broncos have done an alright job of running the ball and they face some really juicy match ups down the stretch so that should continue.

Jalen Parmele, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars – TheJacksonville offence has run through MJD forever so there is no reason that Parmele (who Mularkey has confirmed will be the replacement) should not see plenty of work.  In addition, the QB switch might help production on the ground too.

Danario  Alexander, WR, San Diego Chargers –  I mentioned Alexander last week and he made em look real smart.  As stated previously, Alexander is a physical freak of nature and will continue to be a stud if his knee holds up

Not So Obvious

Chad Henne, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars –Henne has been a decent fantasy QB in the last couple of season.  Not always consistent, but he has a big arm and plays on bad teams which mean big garbage time production.  Definitely worth a shot if you need help.

Beanie Wells, RB, Arizona Cardinals – As suspected, Wells is back in action in the Cardinals next game against the Rams. The Cardinals have not had a ton of success running the ball this season regardless of who is holding it so I would not look for Wells to save your season, but he is better than some other options out there.

Bryce Brown , RB, Philadelphia Eagles – Brown is going to start for at least one week while McCoy gets over his concussion issues.  He is a “not so obvious”  because he is no LeSean McCoy and the Eagles are not what they once were, but not a bad choice if you need help.

Hail Mary

Plaxico Burress, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers – Burress had great success with the Steelers in a previous life and although he does not have much tread left on the tires, he is still a big body and Big Ben should have some immediate chemistry and trust with Plax.  This could lead to a TD or two.
