Pretzel’s Picks Week 11

November 21, 2009 Pretzel's Picks No Comments

Indianapolis Colts by 1 at the Baltimore Ravens

Colts are finding a way to win even if they are down 31-14 to the Patriots they comeback and win by 1.  They will take this one by a touchdown

New England Patriots by 11 at home over the New York Jets

After a disappointing last minute loss to the Colts last week the Patriots get the win this week but not by 11.  Jets will keep it close in a tough divisional game.

Cincinnati Bengals by 9.5 at the Oakland Raiders

The Bengals surprised most people by beating the Steelers last week in Pittsburgh.  This week should not be a surprise.  Bengals should have this one by 2 touchdowns

Houston Texans by 4.5 at home over the Tennessee Titans

After an embarrassing loss to the patriots 4 weeks ago the Titans have gone 3-0 with Vince Young at the helm.  They have gotten back to their roots of running first, playing some defense and then running some more.  They will extend the streak to 4 this week and take this one outright.

Eliminator

For my eliminator pick I will take the Saints over the Buccaneers.  Neither Reggie Bush nor Sedric Ellis made the trip this week for the Saints but that doesn’t matter as they should take this one easily.

Pretzel’s Picks Week 10

November 15, 2009 Pretzel's Picks No Comments

Denver Broncos by 3.5 at the Washington Redskins

Denver has looked awful the last 2 weeks and Kyle Orton has looked like, well, himself again.  The Redskins have looked awful all season.  Look for the Broncos to get back on track this week.  Denver by 10.

New Orleans Saints by 14 at the St Louis Rams

What is there really to say about this game, The Saints are undefeated and the Rams are awful.  14 spread should be the first half, then look for another 10 in the second half.  Saints by a ton.

Oakland Raiders by 2 at home against the Kansas City Chiefs

In the first of 2 upset specials this week I take the Chiefs over the Raiders.  The Chiefs got rid of their main headache this week and got their offensive line back.  Raiders are still the Raiders.  Chiefs by 7.

Dallas Cowboys by 3 at the Green Bay Packers

Upset special #2.  Meeting the Packers in Lambeau doesn’t mean as much now as it did at one time but it will mean enough in this one.  Packers take this one out right.

Eliminator

For my eliminator pick I take the Ravens over the Browns on Monday night.

Pretzel’s Picks Week 9

November 7, 2009 Pretzel's Picks No Comments

Jacksonville Jaguars by 6.5 at home over the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City has looked awful in every game but one this year.  Their only win came against the Redskins.  You remember them right? They let the Lions win their first game in the last 2 years.  Jaguars bounce back after being embarrassed last week and take this one by a couple of touchdowns.

San Francisco 49ers by 4 at home over the Tennessee Titans

After a good showing last week in a tough loss against the unbeaten Colts the Niners find themselves up against the 1-6 Titans.  Last week the Titans looked good against the Jags.  This is not last week or the Jaguars.  Singletary will find a way to stop Chris Johnson.  San Fran takes this one by a touchdown

Philadelphia Eagles by 3 at home over the Dallas Cowboys

It is tight up top in the NFC East with these 2 teams tied for first.  In a tough divisional match up I have to give the nod to the home team.  Look for McNabb and the Eagles air attack to have a big game this Sunday as they take it by 10.

Indianapolis Colts by 8.5 at home over the Houston Texans

In my upset of the week I am taking the Texans over the Colts.  Last week the Texans showed that as long as they can hang on to the ball their running game works which opens the door for the passing game.  The Colts defense is a just a shell of what it is with Bob Sanders in the game, with him gone for the season the Texans offense should have a field day.  Texans squeak out a win and end Indy’s streak.

Eliminator

For my eliminator pick I am taking the Seattle Seahawks over the Detroit Lions.  The passing game will be huge against the Lions awful pass defense.

Pretzel’s Picks Week 8

Upset Special Week

Baltimore Ravens by 3.5 at home over the Denver Broncos

This year the Broncos have played tough games and easy ones and every week the show up and silence doubters.  Every week we look for the wheels to come off and this team to fall apart.  Maybe it is time to start believing.  Broncos take this close one.

Tennessee Titans by 3 at home over the Jacksonville Jaguars

At 3-3 the Jaguars are infinitely better then the 0-6 Titans.  With Vince Young back at the helm for the Titans things are somehow about to get worse.  Jacksonville wins this one by a bunch.

Detroit Lions by 4 at home over the St. Louis Rams

I know the Rams are 0-7 this season but the Lions have only won 1 game since before their bye week in the 2007 season.  I think them being the favored over anyone at this point is a little optimistic.  St. Louis squeaks out their first victory on the road.

New York Giants by 1 at the Philadelphia Eagles

The Giants looked like gods until meeting the Saints 2 weeks ago when they got destroyed.  They lost again last week to the Cardinals.  With 2 bad showings in a row you have to start to wonder about how good they actually are.  Eagles win a close divisional game handing the Giants their 3 loss in a row.

Eliminator

After failing to correctly pick a close one last week, so we can use some lower end teams when they have good matchups I think I should go with a safe one this week.  I will take the Bears over the Browns.  The Browns are awful and continue to get rid of all talent from their team.  Bears shouldn’t have to do too much to win this one.
